BC Search and Rescue

Task Reporting

We enabled search teams to log data about their task directly from the field, where they may not have access to a network.

BC Search and Rescue is rolling out a new data management system across the province. However the system only has online capabilities. When in the field, teams may not have access to a network but they still need to log data about their task. We’re building the functionality to enable teams to log data offline, and then upload it to the server once they’re back on a network.

ReBOOT Canada

Donation Tracking System

ReBOOT refurbishes and distributes used computer equipment to non-profit organizations. We built a secure, online platform to help track donations.

ReBOOT refurbishes old computer equipment and distributes it to other non-profits and charities. Founded in 1995 and based in Toronto, ReBOOT has recycled over 200,000 pieces of equipment. We built them a secure, online platform through which they can track all of their received donations. It provides a simple interface through which donors can register and the admins can track the details of donations. The system also provides tax receipts for donors.

Big Brothers

Data Aggregation

We helped Big Brothers optimize their placement of clothing donation bins across the Lower Mainland by aggregating and visualizing information from different sources.

Sixty percent of the funding for Big Brothers Vancouver comes from clothing donations. They sell the donations to Value Village to make a profit and need to place their donation bins strategically across the lower mainland. The goal of this project was to help Big Brothers with their problem by building a web application that will pull donation bin locations from many different sources and put them all on one nice map so they can see where they should place theirs.

Free The Children

Website

We built FTC UBC a website to help them be more productive in creating change on campus.

Free the Children at UBC is a club on campus who is committed to helping eradicate poverty through a sustainable, five pillar system. Their parent organization, Free the Children, has made huge contributions to breaking the cycle of poverty with their programs. The club wanted a website which kept track of their members, events, fundraisers, and documents all in one place. We built FTC UBC a website to help them keep track of their members, events, fundraisers and documents all in one place.

Verna J Kirkness Program

Database

We developed a database to help the program easily access and visualize all of their data.

The Verna J Kirkness program promotes the STEM fields among indigenous youth. Once a year, the program partners with post-secondary institutions to pair high school aged indigenous students with graduate students from across different scientific disciplines. The students spend a week performing experiments, asking questions, and learning about the scientific process. We developed a database to contain all of the organization’s outreach information, which allowed for easy visualization and access to their data.

The BCMSSA provides support and treatment for males who are victims of sexual abuse. We developed a database for the data collected by the organization. They needed to use the data to carry out independent research on the statistics of sexual assaults across BC, so the site also enabled basic data analysis and visualization.
